2008-09 Lessons Begin

Student lessons began on Monday night, September 15, at 7:00 PM at the Joplin Senior Center, 22nd & Jackson.  Jerry & Dot Yockey once again met a new group of over 40 students and started them on a journey to enjoyment of ballroom dancing.  They began with the cha-cha.  The first lesson is, as always, free, and thereafter lessons are $5.00 per couple, $2.50 per person.  New student registration closes on September 29. 29th Annual Spring Dance

Our 29th annual spring dance weekend will be March 6-8, 2009, at Memorial Hall in Joplin.  Details haven't been finalized yet; however, we do know who will be coming to teach and cue for us.  We are pleased to announce that Brent & Judy Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee, have agreed to come to Joplin for the weekend. 

The host motel for the dance weekend is Baymont Inn & Suites, 3510 S. Rangeline, Joplin, MO.  Phone number is 417-623-0000.  A continental breakfast is offered.  Price per room is $59.95.  Registrants should tell them they are in for the Tanglefooters dance weekend.  At least 10 rooms are being held in a block, and if at least 10 rooms are rented, we get the meeting room for the Friday night after-party complimentary.  Check in before 6:00 PM.

Our Mission

To teach, promote, and perpetuate Round Dance as a wholesome, enjoyable recreational activity of the highest standard for the whole family. We are a Phase II-IV intermediate-level club, committed to teaching beginners and developing competent round dancers.

Our History

The Tanglefooters Round Dance Club began in Joplin in 1975, and we have been dancing continuously ever since.   We just celebrated our 32nd anniversary in November of 2007.  We are a member-run club, with an elected board of officers.  For more information on the history of the club and photos of some longtime club VIP's, click HERE.
